Parent/Adult choir forming

HVCC is considering the creation of a new choir comprised of only adults. Rehearsal time and date has not been established but if you are an HVCC parent or supporter and would be interested in this choral experience, please call Jon Seitz at 541-752-0028 to express your interest (and leave your name). Moving forward with this concept will be based on the response we get so don’t wait to call!

Spring Concert 2010

All choirs will sing in the annual spring concert from 3:00pm to 4:30pm, Sunday, March 7, 2010 at First Methodist Church, located at 1165 NW Monroe in Corvallis.

Dress Rehearsals

Look here later for more details about rehearsals.

Some dress rehearsals will be in the morning of March 6 (Sat), at First Presbyterian and some will be in the afternoon of March 7 (Sun) at the Methodist church, ahead of the concert.

Chamber Choir Retreat 2010

Sign up your act for a performance slot by talking with Heidi or Cait, Retreat Talent Show Coordinators.

Chamber Choir will have their 2010 overnight retreat at Camp Tadmore on February 6-7, 2010. The cost of one retreat is included in tuition, however, if you participated in the Festival retreat in November, please remit $45 to the coordinator.

Reservations

The following form (3 in one) is due Jan 18, 2010. It must be completed, signed and returned to Choir Coordinators, Mary Santelmann and Patti O’Bannan, before boarding the buses (no exceptions).

  • 11:00am  Sat Feb 6: Depart Jefferson Elementary.

Special circumstances

Any singer who plans to be driven or drive to and from the retreat can do so only with a signed parent permission form and will drive only with his/her parent or guardian.  All others singers will ride buses to and from Camp Tadmor.  Forms are available at the rehearsal table.

What to bring

Please pack lightly as the buses don’t have a great deal of storage space.  One small overnight bag plus a sleeping bag and pillow will be all that is allowed.

  • Two sack lunches; one for each day
    • Singers are not allowed to bring candy or other goodies.
  • Music and binder
  • Pencil
  • Water bottle
  • Sleeping bag
  • Pillow
  • Personal grooming items and towel for shower if desired
  • Change of clothes
  • Warm, waterproof jacket
  • Appropriate shoes for muddy conditions

Beth Powell Memorial Concert 2010

All HVCC choirs will sing at the Beth Powell Memorial Concert at 3:00pm, Sunday, June 6, 2010 at LaSells Stewart Center on the OSU Campus.

Admission is $8/Adults and $5/Seniors and Children. Tickets will be available at Gracewinds Music in Corvallis, Sid Stevens Jewelers in Albany and starting at 2:00pm at the door prior to the concert.

Sing A Mile High Festival in Denver, 2010

singamilehighlogoThe Sing A Mile High Festival in Denver on June 24 to June 29, 2010 is a very exciting opportunity for Children’s Choir 2 and Festival Choir! Singers will be working with internationally renowned composer/conductors Sean Ivory and Paul Caldwell as well as singing with many other treble choirs from the US and abroad.

The festival will end with a finale concert at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts on The University of Denver’s campus, where the choirs will perform both individually and en mass.

Payment Schedule

$995 per participant for 6 days and 5 nights.

  • Make checks payable to HVC Choir.
  • Tour accounts may be used at any time during the payment process and fund-raising is highly encouraged.

Cost includes the choral festival, airfare, coach transportation in Denver, coach transportation to and from Corvallis to PDX, lodging, meals, festival t-shirt and all organized tour activities.

  • October 6 $120. per person (non refundable after November 10)
  • November 3 $120. per person (non refundable after December 10)
  • December 1 $120. per person (non refundable after January 10)
  • January 5 $120. per person (non refundable after February 10)
  • February 2 $120. per person (non refundable after March 10)
  • March 2 $120. per person (non refundable after April 10)
  • April 6 $120. per person (non refundable after May 10)

The above “non refundable” deadlines above are based on HVCC’s payments to Young Voices of Colorado, who are organizing the festival portion of the tour. Some flexibility may be allowed depending on family circumstances.

Prep & CH1 mid-season auditions

Auditions for Preparatory & Children’s 1 choirs will be held at 4:00pm to 5:00pm, Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church.

Auditions are open for children grades 3 and 4. No reservation is required. Just show up ready to sing a few notes! Our winter season begins January 4, 2010.

Please contact us if you have a singer in a different age group. We are always
happy to set up individual auditions!

Portland Holiday Day Tour

Children’s 2 and Festival singers have a holiday tour in Portland on December 19, 2009.

This HVCC holiday tradition began about 15 years ago, for Children’s 2 and Festival Choirs.

General itinerary

  • 11:00am Pioneer Courthouse Square performance (Salem)
  • 12:00pm Saturday Market performance (Portland)
  • 5:15pm Grotto Festival of Lights performance (Portland)
  • 8:00pm ice skating at the Lloyd Center (Portland)

  • Wear informal uniforms

  • Rain jacket and/or umbrella
  • Sack lunch and healthy snacks

  • A printed copy of the Portland Holiday Tour itinerary.

All HVCC choirs will sing at the Holiday Concert at 3:00pm to 4:30pm, Saturday, December 12, 2009 at LaSells Stewart Center on the OSU Campus.

Due to Freezing Rain we are still going to hold the concert but dress rehearsals will start at 11:15 am today and there will be no intermission.

Festival of Lights Concert a success

The Festival and Children’s 2 choirs will performed at the Festival of Lights Concert on December 1 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church in the Sanctuary.  They  performed with various local groups.

Please arrive at 6:30 pm (normal rehearsal night hours).

The concert begins at 7:00 pm and is finished at 8:00 pm or just a little after. HVCC usually sings about 7:30 pm.

Admission is free.
