Fall 2010 Rehearsal Schedule

All rehearsals are held at The First Presbyterian Church at the corner of 8th and Monroe in Corvallis. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the first rehearsal so you can check in, pick up music and receive a copy of the current newsletter.

Parents, please note that our coordinators arrive only 20 minutes before rehearsal for check in. We cannot be responsible for your singers if they are dropped off earlier.

Formal Uniform Photo Shoot 2010

All choir members need to be dressed in their formal uniforms at these rehearsals to get pictures taken for the upcoming concert program guide:

November 15

Preparatory Choir 6:00pm to 6:15pm, then onto rehearsal
Festival 7:30pm to 7:45pm, then onto rehearsal
Chamber 7:45pm to 8:00pm, then onto rehearsal

November 16

Choir 1 6:15 – 6:30, then onto rehearsal
Choir 2 6:30 – 6:45, then onto rehearsal

Poinsettia Sales support choir tours

Plants to be delivered to and picked up from Jefferson Elementary School on Nov 23rd. Details will be in the weekly In-Choir-er when available or contact the choir office with questions.

Volunteers needed to help unload and sort plants on the 23rd.

Order Forms are due Oct 25-26, 2010 at rehearsals.

The HVCC Chamber, Festival & CH2 Choir singers are selling wonderful poinsettias to raising money for upcoming choir tours.

The Peoria Gardens Poinsettias are just $10 and are big and beautiful in their 6 ½ inch foil-covered pots. Poinsettias are available in these colors:

Red
Pink
White
Jingle Bell: a red “petal” with splotches of creamy white and pink
Marble: a pink “petal” with creamy white edges
Novelty: can be any of the new and interesting varieties that the greenhouse is trying out for the 2009 season. If you are adventurous and choose this category, you never know what you will get.

An HVCC singer will deliver your plants the week after Thanksgiving…..just in time for the Holidays. If you would like to place an order or have questions, please contact the office or a singer/member.

Creche Concert – Festival/Chamber

The Festival and Chamber choirs will perform Friday, December 4 at the annual Creche Concert in LDS Mormon Church on 35th Streets & Harrison Blvd. Admission is free. Read more about the event.

Call time is 6:30pm and the concert begins at 7:00pm.
Singers wear Formal uniforms.

Chamber Retreat 2011

Chamber Choir will have their 2011 overnight retreat at Camp Tadmore on February 12-13, 2011. The cost of one retreat is included in tuition, however, if you participated in the Festival retreat in November, please remit $45 to the coordinator.

Reservations

The following form (3 in one) is due Jan 18, 2011. It must be completed, signed and returned to Choir Coordinators, Mary Santelmann and Patti O’Bannan, before boarding the buses (no exceptions).

Special circumstances

Any singer who plans to be driven or drive to and from the retreat can do so only with a signed parent permission form and will drive only with his/her parent or guardian. All others singers will ride buses to and from Camp Tadmor. Forms are available at the rehearsal table.

What to bring

Please pack lightly as the buses don’t have a great deal of storage space. One small overnight bag plus a sleeping bag and pillow will be all that is allowed.

Two sack lunches; one for each day
- Singers are not allowed to bring candy or other goodies.
Music and binder
Pencil
Water bottle
Sleeping bag
Pillow
Personal grooming items and towel for shower if desired
Change of clothes
Warm, waterproof jacket
Appropriate shoes for muddy conditions

Spring Concert at First United Methodist Church 2011

All choirs will sing in the annual spring concert on Sunday, March 12, 2011 at First Methodist Church, located at 1165 NW Monroe in Corvallis.

Tickets go on sale this Monday and Tuesday at choir rehearsals, Gracewinds Music Store, and Custom Eyes of Albany.

Beth Powell Memorial Concert 2011

All HVCC choirs will sing at the Beth Powell Memorial Concert at 3:00pm, Sunday, June 5, 2011 at LaSells Stewart Center on the OSU Campus.

Admission is $8/Adults and $5/Seniors and Children. Tickets can be purchased at the Scrip table during rehearsals. They are also available at Gracewinds (in Corvallis) and Custom Eyes (in Albany). Purchases may be made at the door starting at 2pm on June 5.

Senior Dessert 2011

The Senior Dessert for the graduating seniors and their parents is June 3 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Carol Nelson’s home in Albany (behind Tom’s Garden Center off Hwy 34).

We need about 4 or 5 non-seniors to arrive at 6:30 pm to set up and serve. Contact the office if you would like to volunteer.

If you can make desserts and can deliver them, please contact the office.

Returning members of Chamber Choir are requested to come and sing for Carol in order to be placed correctly in sections for the coming year. (Singers not in sports should take earlier times so that we can end at a reasonable hour).
